How to Regain Happiness in this lost world
One thing you might all have noticed: Nowadays people live more in the virtual world than in the real world.
They are more interested in taking a picture of food, trips and uploading it on social media, than enjoying the experience and beauty of it.
They want millions of followers on social media, but not interested in making real life connections.
They want to earn fame, success and wealth. But, nobody focuses on earning happiness and contentment in life. In between all of this we lost our happiness.
This is how the lost world looks like. But why are they living like this?
They see wealth as a source to buy happiness in life. Like you all I also agree to an extent that money is important to survive. As money buys everything. It can give you a luxurious lifestyle, build connections,and sponsor your international trips. There is nothing which can't be done with money.
But, one thing I couldn't understand is that even though today's world is more advanced, more wealthy and prosperous.
Why are more and more people going into depression, facing mental issues, having broken families, living lonely lives? Why are they getting lost in their lives?
Because they lose their happiness, contentment, and real life connection to this glitter world or I must say fake world.
Where money, success and fame overpowers everything that once was valuable.
Here, I want to recommend some of the things you can do to regain happiness in this lost world.
1.Stop chasing materialistic lifestyle, chase drives
Though, materialistic life gets you wealth, fame and success. Also removes your hardships.
But, it also makes your life more like a routine than living.
Here, all the people get lost to the glitters of materialistic life.
While your drives give you a reason to wake up everyday with a hope, reason to work hard, reason to do something meaningful.
Because, we fulfill our drives with all our hearts, and perform tasks with happiness.
That's why they bring satisfaction and contentment in our lives.
This helps us to regain happiness in this lost world.
2. Present more in real world than virtual world
Limit your screen time, observe more in real life. Focus on what is happening in your surroundings? How can everyday tasks be meaningful?
Being present in the moment makes you enjoy everything in life. This will not only reduce disruption from the constant notifications, but also improve your mental wellbeing. It brings clarity in life.
Once you get clarity in life, happiness is all yours. Because being happy is not important, understanding the meaning of happiness is the key to regain it in this lost world.
3.Small talks with unknown
We are living in a world where public places are completely silent. Which is a good thing, as it makes our society more sophisticated. People are either wearing earphones or constantly looking at their phones screen.
They forget to smile and having small talks with unknown people. I am saying this because I have realized… sometimes a random smile makes a person's day.
A small talk is enough to let go of their worries and help them to reconnect with this world. This helps them to regain their smile and happiness in this busy and scheduled world.
4. Help others
When we help others with small gestures we feel good. Like offering seats to senior citizens in public transport or carrying grocery bags for our neighbors.
Helping others makes us valuable and happy. In this “nobody cares “world. This works as “feel good syndrome”, and feeling good brings us contentment.
5. Make real life connections
Having some real life connections is very important. With them we can share our success and failures. Who can guide us through the bumps of life and hold us in our lows.
Having connections doesn't mean having lots of contacts. It is more than that… It is like having “ All weather connections." This not only makes you comfortable with yourselves, but also paves the way for a happy and contented life in this lost world.
6.Practice self compassion
Once I was listening to a podcast, where the guest was saying” I never criticize myself… never ever, whatever I am doing? How many mistakes have I made in life? She said that life is already difficult and doesn't want to make it more complicated by criticizing myself. What if things might have to unfold this way only”.
Since then I stopped blaming myself for whatever happened in my life. And I started practicing self compassion.
Behaving good with ourselves is equally important as we behave with others. Self compassion makes us a more generous and happy person.
7.Walk into the Nature
When we are fed with the hustle- bustle of everyday life, we look for vacation in hill stations.
Why is this so?
Can't we take a break and rest at home, this can also eliminate our tiredness.
But, more than a break we need to regain our own self. That's why we often walk into nature to find ourselves.
Walking into nature helps to regain our consciousness about what we actually want in life. Once we find ourselves, it becomes easy for us to live a happy life.
8.Start Exercising
Here, I want to tell you that… . Start doing exercise or forget about this. Just follow a morning walk routine for a week and see the results.You will be a happier and full of life person.
9.Start Enjoying the life
Enjoy the season’s first rainfall and feel the smell of sand. Take good meals, feel every bite of it. Explore new places to know yourself better than to show. Dress well, smile more, become kind.
10. Say yes to life
Take the opportunities as learning in life. Never fear in exploring new things.
Because, when we are too busy or lost, we can't see the opportunities that are coming to us. Rather we see them as a tiring task. And by saying no we are saying no to life or happiness.
So shift your gears from “refusal to leaning mode”.
Life is much more than living a tied or routine life. Life is all about finding ourselves in the crowd of millions.
In the end I just want to tell you that…
Though, there are so many disruptions and distractions in our lives. So many tasks we have to perform, fulfill our dreams and duties.
But, still take a pause, try to find yourself in this lost world. Reflect on the things that make you happy and content in life.
Remember you are not here to live for hundreds or thousands of years. You do not need to follow the “leaning by doing” model in our lives. As we have limited time here on the earth.
Life is a journey of finding oneself.
So take a step to find yourself, what is happiness for you?
